Anatomy

These are 20 minute studies of basic anatomy using charcoal.
In this drawing there are not many plan lines visible due to charcoal being used, it is a great thing to use in life drawing as you can easily correct a line that is in the wrong area or is the wrong angle by smudging which also helps define the contrasts between light and dark tones as you can be very heavy with it.
The proportion in the drawing is good, although the thigh closest to the audience might be slightly too big and the angle of the foot is off compared to the leg. You can tell this because the lower leg is foreshortened.
The pose the drawing depicts shows the weight of the model very well, with the shoulders down and stomach squashed with the closest leg enlarged this shows the centre of the body mass and you can really feel the pose.
And how the model is leaning forwards from the stool but has her foot stuck out to balance the pose.
The proportions of the model are mostly correct apart from the foot as mentioned before, but apart from that the drawing is a good study of the basics of anatomy.
This is a good example of showing the twist in the body, with the lines on the left of the models torso, with her arms resting on the right side of the picture and her legs extending over the table edge on the left, giving the twist, the line of the spine also helps to depict this.
